Concept design for a student complex
‘The Sparrow’ is an architectural visualisation project with the aim of developing a conceptual modern refurbishment of a 1930s neoclassical building and to produce a range of CG imagery.
Designed by Henry Rees and opened in 1930s in the centre of Loughborough, the building played an important part in connecting people across the country as it housed postal services and telecommunications technology.
Over recent decades, the need for post-office services declined and it subsequently became vacant. Before developing the refurbishment in 3D, we wanted the architectural and historical heritage of the building to direct our design decisions.
The size, location and original purpose of the building lends itself to a range of redevelopment opportunities, including housing and commercial use. We designed a condominium and rooftop terrace in 3D to show two options.
Image rendering + photography
Creating a render that can be composed in unison with the existing environment’s photography is essential to creating high quality imagery.
The building needed to be designed in a way that fitted with the environment and didn’t become an eyesore.
